Surf lessons for beginners
The classes are organized based on knowledge of surfing practices.
This is the program for a beginners' class. :
- Wear a neoprene suit for protection against the cold and greater comfort in the water..
- All the necessary equipment, including a board suitable for your level.
- Physical warm-up before practice.
- Knowledge of the surfboard and sea conditions (currents, tides, waves).
- Correct posture on the board and paddling technique.
- Learning and practicing take-offs (the movement of standing up on the board, training on the sand).
- Safety rules and respect in the water.
- Reading and selecting waves - how to choose the best ones to surf.
- Entering the sea: the instructor will be with you in the water, helping you catch waves and giving you personalized feedback.
- Continuous evolution: - regardless of the level, we adapt the class to your level, always aiming for your evolution.

We offer classes during the week and at weekends, with times varying according to the weather conditions. Check our schedule online or get in touch.
3. Do I need previous experience to take lessons?
No! We have classes for all levels, from beginners to advanced.
4. How long is a lesson and what is included?
Lessons usually last between 1h30 and 2h and include equipment (board, wetsuit), insurance and an instructor certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
5. How much do the lessons cost? Are there any promotional packages?
We have individual lessons and promotional packages, where the price per lesson is even more advantageous.
6. What is the best time of year to learn to surf in Costa da Caparica?
The Costa da Caparica region has consistent waves all year round, offering conditions for all levels of surfers. Portugal Surf School is open all year round.

7. Are the lessons given in groups or one-to-one?
We offer both options, with small classes for greater safety and personalized attention.
We have classes for large groups, more than 10 students, which do not lose safety and personalization, since we have enough instructors for these classes.
8. Are there any age restrictions for taking part?
We accept children (from 6 years old) and adults. We have specific programs for families and children.
9. What should I bring to class?
We recommend that you bring a bathing suit, towel and water. We provide the rest of the equipment.
10. What's the security like during lessons?
All the instructors are qualified and the classes are held in safe areas for beginners.
We teach safety rules on the sand to ensure that everyone surfs safely.

11. What happens if the sea conditions are not good on the day of the lesson?
If our team assesses that the sea conditions are not safe for surfing, we try to reschedule the lesson. We decide on the right conditions for surfing, always guaranteeing your safety.
